JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:                 Chef

Responsible to:      Catering Manager

Hours:                     35 hours between Monday – Friday.

Location:                 Widdershins Centre

Salary:                      £25,480 per annum

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Purpose of the post:To assist the catering team to  prepare, cook and present food quickly and efficiently. To assist in the smooth running of the kitchen, at all times and assist to motivate others with the key aim of delivering food to our customers within allocated times.  Providing advice and assistance, maintaining product and undertaking cleaning duties whilst ensuring compliance to company policies, ‘best practice’, and current legislation.
Specific Responsibilities:·       Prepare, cook and present food, quickly and efficiently, meeting our standards

·       Assist the team: menu planning, working to low cost budgets

  • Assist in keeping the kitchen clean, hygienic and tidy, at all times to maintain housekeeping standards
  • Keep up to date with current promotions, and new products
  • Work safely around kitchen equipment, monitor and deal with any maintenance issues
  • Maintain all kitchen-related office administration
  • Use food development plan to improve the sales and profitability of the catering Dept.
  • Maintain accurate  stocking levels, including all kitchen materials
  • Assist in achieving financial targets
  • Manage wastage through correct product measurement

·       To maintain an excellent level of personal presentation

  • Maintain personal knowledge by completing in-house training, attending courses and completing workbooks

·       To ensure deadlines are met to enable meals to be served on time.

·       To provide an efficient and effective service to customers, understanding their needs and requirements, working to exceed these wherever possible

·       To demonstrate a positive, enthusiastic, committed and flexible attitude towards customers and other team members, recognising the importance and benefits of effective team working

·       Deliver customer service in line with ‘best practice’. Ensure compliance to relevant policies

·       Provide assistance to customers should an incident occur, seeking guidance in line with company policies

·       Take responsibility for own product area, ensure this and product is maintained with company ‘best practice’ and current Health & Safety legislation. Merchandise product efficiently and effectively in order to maximise sales

·       Undertake and achieve company funded industry recognised

Food Hygiene qualification if not currently held

·       Attainment of GCSE English and Mathematics qualification to a minimal level grade C (or equivalent)

·       NVQ Level 2 or (catering equivalent)

·       Previous experience of working in a catering environment

·       Working knowledge of till systems

·       Working knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation

·       Be confident and self motivated

Kitchen Assistant

Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Report to: Chef
Responsible to:  Chief Executive
Hours: 16 hours per week over Monday- Friday
Base: Widdershins Centre, Sebastopol

PURPOSE OF THE POST:
Assist in the preparation and provision of meals, have the responsibility for the day to day running of the kitchen during shift, ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare and cook meals and light bites following pre-set menus in accordance with Food Hygiene Regulations to ensure meals are nutritious, appetising and meet dietary needs.
• Attend community lunch clubs and other community venues as allocated to serve meals/buffets.
• Undertake simple stock control, reporting goods to be ordered to the relevant senior staff to ensure adequate supplies are maintained.
• Undertake the cleaning of the kitchen and surrounding areas and also of equipment to ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high level, working to a rota.
• Taking of meal orders as allocated in a Bistro/Lunch Club environment.
• Maintain and records relating to food hygiene and food allergens/intolerances.
• Ensure the security of the kitchen and storerooms is maintained at all times to provide a safe working environment.
• Attend training courses as required.
• Ensure your own personal hygiene and cleanliness is of the highest standard
• To support the catering team with collection, washing and storing of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job Title: Bank Support Worker

Report to: Home Services Scheduler
Responsible to:  Chief Executive
Hours: 16 hours per week over Monday- Friday
Salary: Meets National Minimum Wage
Base: Travelling throughout Torfaen

PURPOSE OF THE POST: We are looking for reliable, trustworthy domestic cleaners throughout the Torfaen area.

We use clients cleaning products and vacuum cleaner etc.

The service supports older people to maintain their independence, choice and dignity, enabling them to lead a full and active life.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To undertake cleaning duties in areas as directed by Home Service Scheduler
  • To clean and maintain agreed areas within a clients home,  including
    cleaning surfaces and vacuming and dusting.
  • To attend training courses as identified and agreed for appropriate
    development.
  • To ensure the appropriate recording and audits required are prioritised.
  • To promote a positive image of older people and of Age Connects Torfaen to other agencies and the general public.
