Age Connects Torfaen is delighted to announce funding to deliver Warm Hubs over the winter months, offering vulnerable older people a safe, welcoming space and a free homemade meal.
Thanks to funding from the Welsh Government, allocated through the partnership of Torfaen County Borough Council and Torfaen Voluntary Alliance, the initiative will help ensure that no one in the community faces the cold or isolation alone this winter.
From Monday, 17th November, the Widdershins Centre will open its doors to the public as part of the Warm Hub initiative. The centre’s Café Connects will provide hot, nutritious meals free of charge throughout the colder months, along with friendly conversation and a supportive environment for those who may be struggling with heating costs or loneliness.
Emma Wootten, Chief Executive of Age Connects Torfaen, said:
“We know that this winter will be challenging for many older people across Torfaen. Our Warm Hub will not only provide a hot meal but also warmth, friendship, and a sense of community. We’re incredibly grateful to Welsh Government, Torfaen County Borough Council, and Torfaen Voluntary Alliance for making this possible.”
The Warm Hub will operate three days a week — Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays — at the Widdershins Centre, offering a lifeline to those in need of warmth and companionship.
