Donate a gift this Christmas to an elderly person in your community and let them know you care.
Christmas is going to feel and look very different this year. To some of the elderly people in our community, it is going to be lonelier than ever.
But what if there was one small and affordable thing you could do to change that? To put a smile on the face of an older lady or gentlemen in your local community?
Why not donate a gift to one of the Age Connects Torfaen service users this Christmas.
As an independent charity working directly with service users from Torfaen, Age Connects Torfaen normally relies on fundraising events to support our Christmas giving activities. Sadly, while the COVID-19 pandemic continues we are no longer able to do this. And it is our service users that will suffer most.
We are asking our community to take just a few minutes from their busy days to pick out a gift to send one of the Age Connects service users this Christmas. It doesn’t need to be a big purchase – or expensive. Far from it. Just something to show you care and are thinking of them.
Many of us have grandparents or elderly parents that we won’t see this year. Make someone in your community smile this Christmas with a simple, affordable gift.
What could I send?
We can accept a wide variety of gifts. We know our service users very well and will make sure the right gifts are given to the people who will enjoy them most. And don’t worry about allergies or dietary requirements, we will make sure these are all taken into account.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Toiletries; bubble bath, soaps, body lotions etc
- Scarfs, hats of gloves.
- Handkerchiefs.
- Slippers.
- Dried fruit or nuts.
- Chocolates or biscuits.
- Fruit cakes.
- Crossword Books
- Adult colouring books
We will make sure that all COVID-19 regulations and procedures are followed so you don’t need to worry about that either.
All you need to do is;
- Decide on the Christmas gift you’d like to donate.
- Wrap and label it with a message from you and your family, friends, business or organisation if you choose.
- Add a Christmas card with a greeting, if you choose.
- Drop it off at our COVID secure collection point by Thursday 10th December.; Widdershins Centre, East Avenue, Sebastopol, Torfaen, NP4 5AB
- Relax and know that you have made a genuine and positive difference to someone’s Christmas this year.

While this Christmas may not be the one we had all been looking forward to, we can still be there for each other, supporting one another, in person or otherwise.
